Coast is a modern fleet card built for businesses that want wide acceptance, strong controls, and clean reporting without dealing with a complicated fee structure. Because it runs on the Visa network, drivers can fuel anywhere Visa is accepted. And instead of a traditional “swipe and go” setup, Coast uses SMS authorization at the pump, which adds an extra layer of security to prevent unauthorized purchases.
In this 2026 Coast fuel card review, we break down how Coast works, where it’s accepted, what discounts it offers, what you’ll pay in fees, and what controls and reporting you get through the Coast platform. We’ll also cover the biggest pros and cons and the best alternatives so you can decide if Coast is the right fit for how your fleet fuels and tracks expenses.

Coast is a fintech fuel card that runs on the Visa fleet network. Instead of a traditional “swipe and go” process, Coast uses SMS to authorize purchases at the pump. When a driver pulls up, they text the Coast number with their Card ID, and Coast walks them through a few prompts like driver name and odometer, to approve the transaction.
Because Coast runs on the Visa network, it isn’t limited to a small fuel network or a specific brand. Drivers can fuel anywhere Visa is accepted. Managers can also choose to allow purchases beyond fuel, like field or office supplies employees need to do their jobs. This lets Coast work as both a fuel card and a corporate card, so you can manage more of your business expenses in one place.
On the management side, Coast gives you spend controls you can set by card, driver, or vehicle to help prevent misuse and fraud. You also get reporting for accounting and operations, plus integrations with common accounting and telematics platforms so your fuel data can sync automatically.
Unlike traditional fuel cards Coast does not issue fuel cards with a specific driver name or vehicle name. The cards are issued to your company and show your company name plus a Card ID. From there, you assign that Card ID to a driver or vehicle inside the Coast online portal. This setup makes it easy to reassign a card when a driver leaves and a new one is hired, without having to order and wait for a replacement card.
Coast also lets drivers check in to a fuel card at the pump using SMS unlock. The driver texts the Coast number, answers a few prompts to confirm driver and vehicle details, and once that info is verified, Coast authorizes the transaction.
Where Is the Coast Fuel Card Accepted?
Since Coast runs on the Visa network, it works at any gas station or truck stop that accepts Visa. And because Visa is one of the most widely accepted card networks in the United States, Coast will work almost anywhere your drivers fuel up.
Coast offers fuel discounts at many station brands, 1% cash back on non-fuel purchases, and additional savings on things like maintenance, fleet software, roadside assistance, and accounting tools. Below are the discounts and rewards Coast offers.
