What Is the Geotab Fuel Card?

The Geotab fuel card is a fleet fuel card offered by Geotab in partnership with AtoB. The card is designed for businesses that already use or want to use Geotab's telematics system and want to manage their fuel purchases and vehicle data on one platform.

The card runs on the Mastercard network, allowing drivers to purchase fuel at gas stations and truck stops nationwide. Geotab also offers fuel discounts at participating locations, along with spending controls, fraud protection, and fuel reporting.

What makes the Geotab fuel card different from traditional fuel cards is its integration with Geotab's telematics system. Businesses can use vehicle GPS locations and fuel tank data to help prevent unauthorized fuel purchases. Fuel transactions are also integrated with Geotab's fleet management platform, allowing fleet managers to monitor fuel spending alongside vehicle activity.

The Geotab fuel card is only available to Geotab customers, making it an add-on to their existing fleet management service.

Where Is the Geotab Fuel Card Accepted?

The Geotab fuel card runs on the Mastercard network and can be used at any gas station or truck stop that accepts Mastercard. With Mastercard's widespread acceptance throughout the U.S., drivers have the flexibility to fuel up at almost any location.

Geotab Fuel Card Discounts

Geotab offers fuel discounts at over 4,200 truck stops and 30,000 gas stations nationwide. The largest discounts are available at truck stops, where drivers save an average of 42¢ per gallon on diesel. Discounts at gas stations are smaller, ranging from 5¢ to 20¢ per gallon.

In addition to fuel discounts, the Geotab Drive app shows live fuel prices at nearby in-network stations, allowing drivers to find the lowest fuel prices for in-network fuel locations in their area.

Geotab Fuel Card Fees

Geotab does not charge activation fees, monthly card fees, or transaction fees for its fuel card. However, the fine print states that additional fees may apply for optional services, with the full fee schedule outlined in your account agreement.

The Geotab fuel card is only available to existing Geotab customers. Since these businesses are already paying for Geotab's telematics system, the fuel card is a native add-on to their existing service, allowing them to integrate fuel card transactions directly with their telematics data.

Geotab Fuel Card Controls and Reporting

All card management and reporting are handled in your existing MyGeotab account so you can manage your fuel cards and telematics all in one place. Here are the available controls and reporting features.

Controls

  • Limit purchases by product category: Choose the product categories you want to allow or block, such as fuel, maintenance, hardware, etc.
  • Allow/Block merchants: Limit purchases to specific merchants, or block purchases at specific merchants.
  • Card Unlock: Cards are locked by default so drivers are required to use the Geotab Drive app to unlock the fuel card before using it at the pump.
  • Spend limits: Dollar amount a driver can purchase per transaction, day, or week.
  • Day of week: Days when a card can be used.
  • Time of day: Hours when a card can be used.

  • Fraud protection: Real-time fraud monitoring and alerts, chip in every card, App unlock before fueling.
  • Fraud loss coverage: Geotab advertises a $250,000 fraud guarantee for eligible accounts, subject to conditions.

Reporting

  • Transaction reports: Download detailed transaction reports by time period and filter reports by card, driver, vehicle, or department.
  • Real-time transaction monitoring: View approved, pending, and declined transactions as they occur.
  • Spend insights: Review spending by group to identify trends and unexpected expenses.
