How to Calculate Off Road Diesel Prices near You
Off road diesel is essentially the same product as regular diesel; it's simply dyed red to ensure it's only used for off road applications. As a result, its base cost is very similar to regular diesel. Off road diesel is cheaper than regular diesel because it’s exempt from state and federal road taxes that you normally pay when purchasing regular diesel, as it's intended for off road use only.
To estimate the price of off road diesel, you need to subtract the federal and state excise taxes from the price of regular diesel in your area. Follow these steps to get the estimated off road diesel prices for stations near you:

Where to Find Off Road Diesel Stations
Since off road diesel is primarily used for commercial purposes, it’s not typically available at regular retail gas stations because there’s simply no demand for it from the general public. To find off road diesel you’ll need to visit commercial fueling stations which are designed to serve businesses and carry off road diesel. To locate a nearby station that carries off road diesel, check out this map and list of off road diesel locations across the U.S.
How to Buy Off Road Diesel at Fuel Stations
Some states require a permit to buy off road diesel, which is why most stations only let you purchase it with a fleet fuel card. Why? Because fuel card providers typically verify that all the proper permits and paperwork are in place before giving their cardholders access to off road diesel. If stations allowed customers with credit cards or cash to purchase dyed diesel, there would be no verification process, which may place liability on the fuel station for selling off road diesel to non-permitted customers.
To buy off road diesel, you’ll need a fuel card and the Commercial Fueling Network (CFN) has the largest network of stations in the U.S. that offer dyed diesel. If you want access to off road diesel at CFN locations, just sign up for a CFN fuel card to get started.
